MRSA, the super bug, is quickly changing. The strain known as community acquired (CA) is taking the back seat to its nastier brother, healthcare acquired (HA). What was once a common, and easily controlled, level 1 bio-hazard is becoming a level 3 rampaging plague. At present there is no protocol for containment. The suggested protocol for prevention is hand washing. The protocol for interdiction is ineffective antibiotics. The current protocols can be likened to washing the windows at the World Trade Center Towers as to give a better view of the approaching planes. The threat level is RED by Homeland Security standards , severe and eminent attack. This enemy is fully trained and is recruiting thousand of carriers a day. These events are having economic stimulus impact in that the production of little bitty coffins is up.
